Provides guidance, resources, advice, counseling and assistance to improve the social, academic and psychological functioning, well being and quality of life of children and their families. May provide assistance to single parents, arrange adoptions, and find foster homes for abandoned or abused children. In schools, they address such problems as poor or failing grades, bullying, teenage pregnancy, misbehavior, and truancy. May also advise teachers on how to deal with problems in the classroom.
